Dr. Bedore is the equine science instructor at Sam Houston State University. She teaches a wide range of courses, which are listed below.
Teaching Philosophy
Dr. Bedore’s teaching philosophy is to clearly define what it is that students need to be able to demonstrate, either through skills assessment or written examination. The instructor should define the skills that are to be mastered and the skills that are being introduced but mastered in a later course. Students should be offered multiple practice sessions for skills they are being expected to master. During these practice sessions, students should be offered feedback and suggestions for improvement.
Courses Taught

Equine Science is the introductory course in the program and required of all students.

Selection and evaluation prepares students to evaluate equine conformation- a critical skill for a wide variety of careers, including horse trainer, veterinarian, bloodstock agent, horse show judge, and others. This course also introduces students to the Horse Judging Team.

Equine exercise physiology prepares students to discuss the differences between types of athletic endeavors that horses engage in. Students will understand why different conditioning and feeding practices are used for different sports.
